Moors produced a gritty performance on the road to bring home a point from their National League North encounter at The Citadel on Tuesday night.

An often-scrappy game rarely threatened to deliver a glut of goals and both sides emerged from the contest feeling they could have won it but perhaps satisfied they did not lose.

Andy Inness – still in charge in Lewis Dickman’s absence – restored Ben Hockenhull to the centre of defence, while fellow loan man Jay Glover was drafted into midfield. Michael Roxburgh continued in goal, while Moors were without influential duo Rob Ramshaw and Glen Taylor through injury.

Moors engineered the first chance of the night when Farsley Celtic only half-cleared Mark Anderson’s left-wing corner and Jay Glover arrived to volley just over from the edge of the box.

Anderson himself fired wide from range shortly afterwards, while Roxburgh had to make tidy saves to deny the hosts’ strike pairing Joao Silva and Dylan Youmbi.

Inness’ men were in control for the most part of the first half without severely threating the home side’s goal, though Roxburgh was forced into action again just before the break with a brave save from a looping header.

Farsley had a good spell at the start of the second half but Moors quickly regained their composure and Reece Staunton’s inviting cross from the left just evaded Corey McKeown in the middle.

The best chance for Moors arrived on the hour mark when Will Harris scampered clean through on goal only to send his effort wide of the left-hand post.

Roxburgh earned the plaudits again nine minutes from time when Youmbi was set through on the right of the penalty area but the Moors keeper came racing out to make another big save.

At the other end, McKeown jinked into a bit of space on the right of the area after good work from Harris but then fired his shot just too high as the game ended all-square.
